Sales Education for Entrepreneurs

Finding sales education for entrepreneurs can be a challenge. Entrepreneurs have limited time and there can also be limited affordable options. Help with sales education for entrepreneurs is out there you just have to know where to look.

Here are a few options for sales education for entrepreneurs.

Sales Peer 2 Peer Groups

There are many Peer 2 Peer groups that can help entrepreneurs share their experiences across a number of business-related areas including finance, HR, operations, marketing, and sales. These groups can allow for members to learn from other members’ successes and even failures. There are even a few specialized Sales P2P groups including the Communitech Sales Leaders P2P where I am a member. As an example, we had a great interactive workshop with Jamie Shanks on Account Based Sales last month.

Courses for Entrepreneurs

There are in-person courses available specifically around sales education for entrepreneurs. A couple of options available locally is the newly announced Sales Bootcamp at the Innovation Factory’s and Marketing and Sales for Entrepreneurs at the University of Toronto School of Continuing Education. A bit of a disclaimer that I lead both courses. There will be other options in your region, you just need to look for them.

Webinars and Digital Courses

There are many online courses available. You will find many sales technology firms like Hubspot and Salesforce that have webinars and digital resources. You can also find services like Udemy that have many resources to help with sales education for entrepreneurs.

Sales Events

There are many free or nearly free sales events where you can learn about sales as an entrepreneur. Here in Toronto there is SalesTO, which is part of the TechTO organization and the Toronto Enterprise Sales Forum which is part of a North American wide organization. Do a search on meetups or ask local entrepreneurs where to find these types of events in your area.

Practice with Team Members

One of the best ways to get better as a sales leader or even a sales rep is to practice. This could mean role-playing a sales meeting, doing a test demo or presentation, and talking through interview questions. Work with one of your other team members to get better. The act of practicing will make you better even if you only self evaluate.
