HubSpot LeadIn is a relatively new free lead capture and visitor tracking app. Available as both an app and WordPress plugin, it gives startups and smaller companies on tight budgets access to basic visitor tracking capabilities that you normally only find in $200/month+ services such as HubSpot’s or Salesforce’s marketing automation software.

Below is a summary of 5 key LeadIn features.

1. Visitor Behaviour Tracking

LeadIn is the only free WordPress plugin we’ve seen that shows you the visitor’s path prior to, and after, converting on one of your website forms or on the LeadIn popover. Unlike Google Analytics, it easily shows you what pages your converted visitors looked at without a lot of setup. This allows you to see if there are patterns to what pages people visit before converting, or what pages they are converting on.

2. Email Notifications

Some WordPress form plugins have a notification feature that sends you an email every time the form is submitted; however, you still need to configure this and not all form plugins offer this feature. With LeadIn, the plugin can be easily set up so that you can send a notification to multiple email addresses when there’s a form submission.

3. Tracks Form Submissions

Unlike other form plugins, LeadIn tracks all forms on your website, not just the LeadIn form. In addition, LeadIn organizes the contacts by form, so that with one click, you can see all the conversions on any form and when they converted.

Another useful report the app provides is conversions by traffic source. This report is displayed right on the LeadIn dashboard and shows you the importance of your traffic sources.

4. Pushes Conversions to Email Lists

LeadIn currently integrates with MailChimp, Campaign Monitor, Aweber Email Marketing, Constant Contact and GetResponse. We integrated it with MailChimp and saw that for each form on our website, you can select which list(s) you want to push the contact to.

5. Contact Management & Profile Information

For each conversion, LeadIn attempts to look up additional information for the contact, such as his/her LinkedIn profile and Twitter profile, as well as company information based on the contact’s email address. Having this information retrieved for you can save a lot of time when you are qualifying your leads. In the contact profile view, LeadIn also displays the forms the contact has submitted which can help set the direction for later conversations with the prospect.

LeadIn is currently the best (and possibly the only) free WordPress plugin that provides visitor tracking and contact management, that we have found. These tools can substantially help your inbound marketing process by providing you more insight in what contact a lead is interested in, how they found your website and information on their profile.
