Writing a blog post is really not as difficult or as time consuming as it seems. At VA Partners, we have created a detailed content calendar that outlines our blogging schedule a month in advance. We share the responsibility of blog writing amongst our team members. The content calendar allows us to keep track of whose turn it is and the topic they will be writing about. Each team member usually plans to spend 2-3 hours writing a blog post, depending on how much research is required.
Here is our 5 step process on how to write a blog post.
Choose a Topic
Choose a topic that is relevant to your business and target audience. It’s also important to write about something you already have some knowledge about.
Research
Plan what you will write about and complete research if necessary. It’s helpful to break down your topic into subsections. This will not only help you stay organized, but it helps with readability.
Add Title & Write Content
Create an eye catching title that will entice others to click on your post. Write content that is relevant to your topic and will be useful to those visiting your site. Don’t forget to include important keywords to help others find your content.
Add Images
Add a main image and if possible and images within your blog post to support your content. These can include photos you have taken, stock images or screen captures. If you use WordPress for blogging, take a look at the Pixabay Images plugin.
Add Links
Add both internal and external links to your blog post. This will help the reader find other useful content within your site as well as improve your SEO.
