Create a Great Working Environment

5 Ways to Create a Great Working Environment

You spend 8 hours, 5 days a week in your office, so why not make it fun? Here are our 5 ways to create a great working environment!

1. Volunteerism

Volunteering is important to all of our team members. This year, we joined the Pledge 1% program which has been useful to help us structure our volunteer program. Each of our team members is allotted time throughout the year to use towards volunteer projects that they are passionate about. We even plan team volunteering events to help organizations like the Daily Bread Food Bank. Some other organizations that we donate our time to are Farm Radio, Communitech, the Innovation Factory, Bay Street Hoops and TEDxToronto.

2. Monthly Team Events

In an effort to enhance team morale, we try to schedule a monthly team event. These events can be lunch, painting class, a volunteer activity or wine tour. The activity doesn’t have to be extreme, or expensive, just a way for the team to spend time together in a non-work environment.

3. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

About a year ago, we decided as a team that we wanted to reduce the waste in our office. Thankfully, our building has an organic waste program so it made things much easier. Since we obtained our organic waste bin, we have noticed that we have cut down on our waste considerably. It feels great knowing that this small act has steered half of our waste away from landfills.

4. Change of Atmosphere

In an effort to change up the working environment, we have a work from home day once a week. This day changes every week but allows for employees to stay inside on cold winter days or work from a coffee shop. Sometimes a change of atmosphere can be just what you need to get your creative juices flowing.

5. Dog Friendly

Our office is dog-friendly, and although we don’t have a furry friend visiting us every day, on the days that there is a dog in the office is definitely changes the atmosphere. Who doesn’t love a cute walking around?

Just because, here is a picture of our office dog, QiQi.
