What is RSS?

RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a web-based format for sharing and distributing frequently updated content such as news headlines, blog entries or podcasts. RSS makes it possible for you to keep up with your favorite web sites in an automated manner that’s easier than checking them manually.

RSS content can be read using software called a “feed reader” or an “aggregator.” You subscribe to a feed by entering the feed’s link into the reader or by clicking the RSS icon in a browser that initiates the subscription process. Your aggregator is able to check for new content at pre-determined intervals and retrieve any updates.

How do I use RSS?

You need an RSS Reader. We suggest any of the following:

• Bloglines
• Google Reader (requires a Google account)
• Safari (Mac only)
• Sage for Firefox
• Yahoo! (requires a Yahoo! account)
